Energy Healing for Chronic Illness

by Mar 21, 2018

This a bit of a personal post, in that I am going to share with you the energy healing processes that I have found most helpful on my road to recovery. It is my belief that a huge amount of chronic illness is due, in part, to hidden trauma and trapped emotions. By releasing these denser energies, we can move into a place of more emotional freedom where we are giving our bodies a chance to heal physically.
I am not saying that it is possible for everyone to cure their conditions, or that the symptoms are psychological in nature. Over the years, I have unexpectedly developed new and different health issues and I am by no means “cured”, but I know that if I wasn’t putting in place the techniques and practices that help me, I would be in a lot more pain and discomfort, emotionally, physically and mentally.
For those of you who find the idea of energy healing a bit “woo woo”, I would like to bring your attention to some scientific “facts”. (I try to remember that science just shows us a snapshot in time of the beliefs and theories of the current paradigm.) Science tells us that the universe, including us, is made of vibrating particles. Quantum physicists discovered that physical atoms are made up of spinning and vibrating energy. If you were to zoom in on the tiniest particles of matter, you would just find energy. Human consciousness can influence these particles’ behaviour and even re-structure it.
The HeartMath Institute has been carrying out research based on the interconnectivity of all things and producing some very interesting findings.
1. Human and animal health, cognitive functions, emotions, and behaviour are affected by planetary magnetic and energetic fields.
2. The earth’s magnetic fields are carriers of biologically relevant information that connects all living systems.
3. Each individual affects the global information field.
4. Large numbers of people creating heart-centred states of care, love and compassion will generate a more coherent field environment that can benefit others and help offset the current planet-wide discord and incoherence.
Some physicists pursue a unified theory, as suggested by Stephen Hawkings. This would explain and link together all physical aspects of our universe, giving a field view of reality and the interconnectedness of all living things.

"The day science begins to study non-physical phenomena, it will make more progress in one decade than in all the previous centuries of its existence. To understand the true nature of the universe, one must think of it in terms of energy, frequency and vibration.”

Nikola Tesla
As a Sound Therapist myself, I am very aware of how sound vibration affects all the different levels of being: emotional, spiritual, mental and physical. If you have ever experienced the sound of an orchestra, big tympani drums, or been close to a gong being played, you will have experienced that very physical sensation of the sound in your body. This is due to the sound waves literally moving through your body, which is not actually as dense as it appears.
Many of the energy medicines that I am going to mention work by clearing dense energy, increasing the vibrational frequencies, harmonising brainwaves and putting the heart into a coherent state.
This image of actual heart-monitor readouts, from HeartMath, shows how the heart rate of someone experiencing frustration, then appreciation compares. The smooth heart rhythm, measured by heart-rate variability (HRV), is what scientists call a highly ordered or coherent pattern and is a sign of good health and emotional balance.

Energy Healing

1) Sound Healing

Our organs, chakras and different areas of our bodies, all resonate at many different frequencies, which when blended together produce a symphony, that is as unique as a fingerprint. As we live in a dynamic world of external and internal forces, we are subject to all sorts of stress and pollution which can, over time, pull us out of balance. This can eventually lead to illness and disease.
Sound can be used to correct imbalances in the energy field and bring the person’s body/mind back into energetic harmony. If one ‘C’ tuning fork is struck and placed next to another ‘C’ tuning fork, the second tuning fork will begin to resonate together with the first tuning fork. The sound wave from the first tuning fork has imparted some of its energy to the second one. This is called “Sympathetic Resonance” and is one of the principles used in Sound Therapy.
Vibrations tend to synchronise (to the strongest frequency) and this law is also employed in Sound Therapy as a method to balance the chakras and energy systems of the body. This is called “Entrainment” and is demonstrated by clock pendulums synchronising over time, birds flying together in migration and women’s menstrual cycles becoming aligned.
Sound was used by many ancient civilisations as a powerful tool for healing and transformation. These days sound therapists merge ancient and modern techniques to produce an effective healing tool that combines research, intuition, and thousands of years of knowledge.

With sound therapy, there is no need to trawl through old painful issues or memories, as the imbalances are dealt with at the level of vibrational energy.
My Sound Sessions
I personally use Himalayan singing bowls, crystal singing bowls, and percussion to harmonise the energy field and facilitate transformation. I also use sacred drumming, where the healing takes place in response to the tones and overtones of the drum (sympathetic resonance) and the rhythmic beating (entrainment) . When the drum begins to “sing” many voices and tones can be heard. Harmonics are produced, which facilitate deep relaxation and slowing of the brainwaves.
Drumming can help release negative emotions, stress, trauma, and anger. It grounds one firmly in the present moment (whilst also allowing movement in time and space), reconnecting to one’s core and allowing self-empowerment. I also work with tuning forks, using the power of intervals to entrain the frequencies of the body’s organs, systems and energies to optimum levels for health and well-being. In addition, I work with Brainsound tuning forks which are specifically designed to work with Binaural beat frequencies to help to address imbalances through working with the brainwave frequencies. With these tuning forks, brainwaves can be entrained to drop to very low frequencies and the right and left hemispheres become balanced. This aids relaxation, healing, creativity and insight. The Brainsound tuning forks are especially helpful for anxiety, sleep disturbances, dyslexia, dyspraxia, and learning difficulties. They are also great for treating children as they are relaxing and fun for them to experience.  Recently I trained in the use of the Solfeggio Tuning forks, with Eeshira Hart. These bring another level of healing frequencies to the treatment and are extremely powerful as they tap into the sacred blueprint of our universe restoring wholeness and activating our potential.

So, if you can, book some sessions with a local sound therapist. If you live close to me in East Sussex, why not book a sound session with me.  Another very powerful, yet, free and easy way to enjoy the benefits of sound therapy is by using your own voice to tone into areas of your body. Also, check my post on creativity for health for information on the benefits of singing in a choir.

2) The Emotion Code and The Body Code

The Emotion Code is a healing system developed by the renowned holistic physician and lecturer Dr Bradley Nelson. Emotionally-charged events from your past can still be haunting you in the form of trapped emotions; emotional energies that literally inhabit your body. The Emotion Code healing system allows one to release these trapped emotions by tapping into the subconscious mind using muscle testing.
You can buy The Emotion Code book here and learn how to quickly and easily rid yourself of damaging emotional baggage and “trapped emotions” yourself. The system also teaches you how to find and tear down your “Heart-wall” to unlock better health, relationships, and abundance.
It is so important to release these dense energies that have built up over time and can even be inherited from ancestors as they can cause pain, emotional stress and eventual disease.
My personal experience of the emotion code is that it has been pivotal in improving so many of my symptoms. For many many years my whole body was covered in Urticaria (Hives) and my lips and eyes would swell up. This would happen in response to food intolerances but also under stress and sometimes for no obvious reason. It was unbelievably itchy, unsightly, embarrassing and deeply uncomfortable. About three years ago it had got so bad that my whole face and body was covered with hives and I contacted an Emotion and Body Code practitioner in desperation. In two Skype sessions, the skin issues were gone and since then I have had no problem. It felt like a miracle. I had been familiar with the Emotion Code for many years and had released hundreds of trapped emotions for myself and released my thick heart wall to great benefit. However, in this case, I needed the help of a qualified practitioner and the addition of the Body Code practices. It also helped with my dry eyes and endometriosis enormously.
Since then, I have become qualified in Emotion Code myself, and use it daily for myself, friends, family and clients with astounding results. It is amazing to use it on children, as it can help with such a huge range of emotional issues, which are sometimes hard to uncover. Of course, you can also work on animals with this and I have had great results with that too. 3) Trauma and Shock Management

The role of trauma in initiating and triggering chronic disease is becoming more and more apparent. Childhood trauma isn’t something you just get over as you grow up.
Here is a link to a Ted talk by paediatrician Nadine Burke Harris. She explains that the repeated stress of abuse, neglect, and parents struggling with mental health or substance abuse issues has real, tangible effects on the development of the brain. This unfolds across a lifetime, to the point where those who’ve experienced high levels of trauma are at triple the risk for heart disease and lung cancer. This is an impassioned plea for paediatric medicine to confront the prevention and treatment of trauma, head-on.
Mental health issues in young people are at the highest levels ever in this country and 1 in 4 of us will suffer from them at some point each year. PTSD is extremely common and isn’t just something that happens to war veterans. It can be caused by an event that you might now think insignificant or even secondary to something you saw on television for example.
If you have recurrent flashbacks, panic attacks, are emotionally numb and dissociated, depressed, anxious, panicky or having difficulty sleeping, you may have PTSD. It affects the immune system detrimentally, and can even change how the neural pathways function.  Scientists now have proof that trauma is passed on*, or rather its impact on how we feel, and how we behave, can be superimposed on the DNA of the next generation. The theory that environmental influences like stress and diet can affect the genes of future generations is called epigenetic inheritance and is considered controversial in the scientific community. However, the idea that chemical tags from the environment can impact DNA by modifying certain genes that are then passed on, has been supported by recent studies. The work of the Emotion code by Dr Bradley Nelson has talked about how emotions are passed on down through the generations for years.

So, in summary, it is crucial to find ways to release trauma energy in the body and find tools to manage anxiety and panic.

Effective ways to manage Trauma and shock in the body:

The TARA Approach is a healing system with four unique attributes:  It differentiates shock from trauma; It is self-care and empowerment based. Its purpose is to allow everyone to be in the centre of his or her own healing process.  It advocates and teaches the use of subtle energy medicine in combination with an attuned delivery of language as the most effective treatment of shock and trauma. The TARA Approach can be adapted to serve virtually any population.

“Family Constellations Therapy, pioneered by psychotherapist and philosopher Bert Hellinger and his colleagues, has become increasingly recognised as an astounding, powerful and far-reaching approach to finding lasting resolutions in cases which before had seemed beyond reach. It brings to light our deep interconnectedness with family and community and leads to a deep experiential understanding of primordial love at the heart of all kinds of mental, psychosomatic and bodily suffering. Once that love is freed from unconscious entanglements dating back one, two or even three generations, it becomes a force for profound healing.”
(Dr. Albrecht Mahr)
Another resource for constellation practitioners is The Centre for Systemic Constellations.
Matrix Reimprinting uses the Traditional Chinese Medicine meridian system that has been used in acupuncture for thousands of years. It is an extension of Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT).
In EFT, you bring to mind and verbalise, in a specific manner, an issue that you want to work with. At the same time, you tap on points on your meridians with your fingers, and this releases stress and trauma from the body’s energy system, allowing the body-mind to return to a healthy physical and emotional state. I have personally found EFT fantastic for shifting fears and phobias and dealing with stressful situations.
Matrix Reimprinting evolved from EFT but contains some important differences.  In conventional EFT, the tapping on meridian end points is used to reduce the emotional charge of a past memory. However, with Matrix Reimprinting the memory is actually transformed. You can go into any past memory, say and do what you wished you’d said and done, and bring in new resources to support you in the transformation of that memory. Changing the pictures creates both physical and emotional healing, and enables you to attract more positive experiences into your life. And by tapping on the meridians of the body at the same time, the process is accelerated. It is hugely beneficial for healing trauma and shock and is beneficial for a host of other issues too.

4) Other energy modalities that have helped me:

Metamorphic Technique.

When I first started having Metamorphic sessions, I noticed a huge boost in my confidence. Previously I had been incredibly shy and very uncomfortable when communicating with groups of people. After a number of sessions, I was able to lead a group workshop in Touch Drawing which I would never have thought was possible. Not only was it made possible, but the participants and I enjoyed it very much!
In Metamorphic Technique the practitioner uses a light touch on the feet, hands and head on the meridians of the body corresponding to the spine. An environment can then emerge in which the power and intelligence, already inherent in the person, will be encouraged to flow. You can let go of old patterns and transform old limitations. The Technique is gentle, easy to learn and since no special ability or background is needed, it is accessible to everyone.
You can have sessions in any circumstance or condition of your life. In some cases, responses are immediately noticeable, while in others they are more subtle. They can range from general feelings of having more energy and confidence to improvements in physical, mental or emotional health, releasing of old habits or gradually letting go of past hurts. People often report significant changes in the way they see life and how they feel and think about themselves; very often they experience a growing sense of purpose and inner strength. It seems people may feel drawn to the Metamorphic Technique to create more of what they need in their lives, both as individuals and in the world as a whole. Some people have described it as ‘coming home to themselves’.

Vibrational Essences.

I have used Bach Flower Remedies and Rainbow Essences frequently over the years and found them invaluable for additional support through stressful times. They are really helpful for children and animals also. I sometimes use muscle testing to choose the right one for me but I also just trust my intuition to pick them often.

Access Consciousness

Access Consciousness is another very transformational and gentle modality that can be used to facilitate healing and health. The Access Bars are the very core and foundation of Access Consciousness and have assisted thousands of people to change many aspects of their body and their life including sleep, health, and weight, money, sex and relationships, anxiety and stress. During a Bars session, a practitioner lightly touches 32 points on your head over the course of an hour or an hour and a half. Touching the Bars allows for the electromagnetic charge that holds thoughts, feelings, and emotions in place to dissipate, allowing you to perceive your life, body, and relationships with more clarity and ease.

Energy Medicine

Eden Energy Medicine is an amazingly comprehensive program for balancing and revitalising the body’s energies. I love the right and left brain definitions of energy medicine that Donna Eden and her partner David Feinstein have written:

Right Brain Definition: “Energy is your body’s magic! It is your life force. You keep it healthy and it keeps you healthy. If you are sick or sad, shifting your energies feels good. When you care for these invisible energies, it makes your heart sing and your cells happy!”

– Donna Eden.

Left Brain Definition: “Conventional medicine, at its foundation, focuses on the biochemistry of cells, tissue, and organs. Energy Medicine, at its foundation, focuses on the energy fields of the body that organise and control the growth and repair of cells, tissue, and organs. Changing impaired energy patterns may be the most efficient, least invasive way to improve the vitality of organs, cells, and psyche.”

– David Feinstein, PhD.

The really great thing about it is anyone can practice it on themselves. Have a look at my post on “moving your body” where I have included a video by Lianne Campbell demonstrating the Donna Eden’s daily energy routine, a quick and easy way to get your energies flowing and your body functioning optimally. Lianne’s website has great tips and resources for daily energy practices and conscious parenting community connections.

Here is a challenge!

I challenge you to try the energy routine for 5 days in a row and see how it impacts your life..please comment below to let me know how you find it and share any physical, mental or emotional improvements.
